First of all, I just want to give you what MAME (not the noodles soup) means if the word was new to you before we start the tutorial. Here’s the short description of MAME:
MAME is an emulator application designed to recreate the hardware of arcade game systems in software, with the intent of preserving gaming history and preventing vintage games from being lost or forgotten. The name is an acronym for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. Source : Wikipedia.Org
How-To:
1. Begin by creating a folder labeled “MAME” on your desktop. Download and install Extra Mame into your MAME folder.
2. Download the latest “Windows command line version” of MAME by clicking .com or .net. Save file to your desktop. Click here to find MAME.
3. Drag the MAME icon into your MAME folder. Double-click the MAME icon and click Extract.
4. Double-click extramame.exe to open up MAME. The titles under the “Available” tab are the freeware games included with Extra Mame.

6. New games (called ROMS, or Read Only Memory) can be found all over the internet with quick search. To play them, simply download the zipped ROM (don’t extract) and place it in the ROMS folder.
Warning but not so..
It is illegal to freely download copyrighted ROM’s just as it is with MP3’s. It is recommended sticking with freeware like the games included in Extra MAME. But if you can’t find the games you want, you know what to do for sure.
